Have you ever taken a diet and health quiz? I expect you did well…
Are you still overweight? Or even obese? My guess is that you have taken some type of quiz before, probably in a magazine. I also guess that you are, to a certain degree… Fat.
Am I right?
I assume that you are. (Otherwise why would you be reading this?) If I were to give you a quick questionnaire regarding lifestyle and dietary habits, I wonder how well you would do.
Let’s try a “diet and health quiz” thought experiment together
If I were to ask you to give me a list of 5 foods that will help you lose weight, and 5 foods that will help you gain weight, would you know the answers?
If I were to ask you whether exercise was good for you, what types of exercise you should be doing, and how often you should be doing them… Would you have the answers?
If I asked you to list the calorie count in different types of food, how accurate would you be?
What if I were to ask you for a list of tips and hints that can help you lose weight? (Eg take the stairs instead of the elevator, don’t keep lots of junk food in the house etc). I wonder how many hints and tips you could list?
I bet your score on my test would be very high.
Let’s take the thought experiment a step further
Now, imagine 100 people taking my test. 50 are overweight or obese. 50 are normal weight and always have been. Who would score highest in my test?
Although this is an imaginary test, I bet that the fat people would score much higher than the slim people. Why? because fat people are usually experts about what they SHOULD be doing!
After years of trying different diet and nutrition plans, reading books and articles about metabolism, weight loss clubs, home exercise machines, diet clubs, and support groups…
Fat people that care about themselves are usually experts about diet, exercise and nutrition. Someone who has never had an issue with their weight probably rarely thinks about it, if ever.
What a paradox! Or is it?
The premise of this website; my articles; my weight/fat loss philosophy; and my soon to be released e-book… Is that diets, exercise, studying nutrition, support groups and such like are a complete waste of time…
Without a weight loss mentality!
