Scientists and researchers are inventing new illnesses and disorders all the time. A child who would have been called lively or energetic 50 years ago is now diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder. Alcoholism is now seen as a disease or a disorder rather than a bad habit.
These types of geniuses have now coined the phrase ‘compulsive eating disorder’ to describe those of us who are greedy or use food to punish ourselves or modify our moods.
The problem with diagnoses of new illnesses and diseases is that we create more justification and excuses
It makes the problem seem bigger. It also means that we are pushed towards more ‘professional help’.
Children start taking pharmaceutical drugs with nasty side effects when they are really on a sugar and additive high.
Someone with compulsive eating disorder would be pushed towards seeing expensive therapists, and even dangerous surgery.
Call me cynical, but I think this is the whole idea. Create a new illness, and some new treatment or medicine and you have created a whole new profit stream! A new market to profit from!
Now I am NOT a doctor, psychotherapist, bio chemical engineer, or stomach staple surgeon. I do think that plenty of people have lost weight and turned their lives around without such drastic measures.
Measures such as drugs, surgery, psychotherapy in my humble opinion should not be a last resort, they should be off the table altogether. If they didn’t exist, then each fat person would have to lose weight the natural way.
I don’t believe that there is a person that has ever lived that couldn’t slim down if they really wanted to.
If they can only master their own minds
Do you really need a psychotherapist to help you remember that your Grandmother used to give you too many sweets and you have an association with sugar and feeling good?
Do you need a doctor help you realize that you ‘pig out’ when you are drunk? Or depressed?
All the answers are available. Freely available. In 2 places…. Books and internet articles, and in your own heart.
By going down the road of therapy, drugs and surgery you could be on a slippery slope involving new problems and side effects. The path to diagnoses of new illnesses and disorders that will need more prescriptions.
Why take drastic action when you can do some research, cut out the carbs, do some goal setting and make a few life changes?
Again, I am not qualified in any way to prescribe any specific actions for you as an individual.
So, don’t suddenly rip out your jaw wiring whilst reading this and then blame me.
This book is all about guiding you to your own decisions through rational thought. Don’t take my word for anything, please research further and ask yourself questions honestly. I think that you already know what to do.
